Episode Sixty Seven: "All I asked was sixty-seven million, and he said "okay.""

In this episode, we discuss topics ranging from abortion to the T.V. show Glee.

First, we start off with our usual wrap up of what we watched the previous week. This includes Glee, The Office, Big Bang Theory, Mad Men, Parks and Recreation, Community, V and a few other shows, as well as Frank's review of Precious.

Next, we get into the current events portion of the show. Health care is discussed, however briefly, followed by a small discussion of "She who must not be named" and her new book. Then we move into territory that caused us to get a bit more animated. The first is whether we should commit more troops to Afghanistan. The second point had to do with the trial of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed taking place in New York. We get quite riled up and have a lively discussion about the pros and cons of these two events.

Next up, we delve into listener feedback. We get a few good e-mails and one really confusing voice mail, but keep them coming!

Music this week is from:
Faith No More - "The Cowboy Song"
D.R.I. - "Suit and Tie Guy"
Collective Soul - "Shine"
Sublime - "Hong Kong Phooey"
Plus, stay tuned for a very special cameo appearance after you are asked "are you still there?" You won't regret it! Well, maybe you will.

In this episode, we focus a bit more on entertainment than we usually do in other shows. We cover Big Bang Theory, The Office, V, Parks and Recreations, Community, Glee, Star Wars Clone Wars and a few others.

We take a specific interest in the portrayal of Luminara Unduli and her relationship with her padawan Bariss Offee and contrast her with the other Jedi fighting in the clone wars.

Then we discuss some douche-bags. Nothing all that ire inducing really. Just a few things that are mildly bugging us this week.

We get to the voice mail eventually, as you will hear, and then call it a show.

Music this week is from:
Helmet - "Milquetoast"
Simple Plan - "American Jesus"
Pennywise -"500 Miles"
At least, I think those are the artists that recorded these songs. Although, I am sure about Helmet.

Contained within are the contents of another episode of "Are You Serious?" This time around, Chris and Frank discuss the economic stability of Venezuela and it's long term impact on the region's native population.

Wait...WHAT?

In actuality, they discuss Astroboy, Star Wars The Clone Wars, Metalocalypse, The Venture Brothers, Community, 30 Rock, Michelle Bachmann's "Freedom Rally," why it's really really bad  that John Boehner can't pronounce the word hyperbole and the fact that he can't tell the difference between the Constitution of the United States and the Declaration of Independence. Also discussed is the tragedy at Fort Hood. Our condolences go out to everyone affected by the terrible shootings.

That's just some of what's discussed this time around. We recorded a little early, so no real feedback to speak of. Coincidentally, that does make for a shorter show.

Music this week is from:
Guns 'N Roses - "Civil War" - from  Use Your Illusion II
Too Much Joy - "Clowns" - from  Son of Sam I Am
Dethklok - "Bloodlines" - from Dethalbum II

A special thanks to MSNBC and Keith Olbermann. We use a clip in this show to illustrate Chris' douche of the week. Thanks for not suing us!

Hi everyone,

El and I know that this will not be an episode for everyone. We discuss some of the problems that people encounter that could result in an abusive relationship. This can be a touchy subject and a potentially dangerous one as well, but one that we felt should not be ignored.

We discuss what could constitute mental and psychical abuse and how to identify the signs. Since every relationship is different, we talk in broad strokes about identifying behaviors.

During the show, we list off some phone numbers and websites that could be helpful if you find yourself in an abusive situation. They are:

http://www.helpguide.org/mental/domestic_violence_abuse_help_treatment_prevention.htm

A non-profit resource

http://www.rainn.org/

Rape Abuse and Incest National Network

http://www.helpabusedwomen.org/

Call 1-800-547-1649

http://www.ndvh.org/

National Domestic Violence Hotline

1.800.799.SAFE (7233) 1.800.787.3224 (TTY)

Anonymous & Confidential Help 24/7

Always keep in mind that you can talk to your Doctor, Clergy, or the Police among others if you need help. To our international listeners, I apologize for not listing sites to help you in your own country, but you could talk to the above mentioned people and they can point you in the right direction.

You don't need to stay in an abusive relationship. You deserve to be happy and safe. Leaving may very well be the most difficult and terrifying thing you ever do, but it will be worth it to put that part of your life behind you. No one should live in fear.

If you know of other places that should be added to our list, please e-mail them to:

Hello everyone! Here is episode Sixty Four for your listening pleasure. This week, we decided to forgo notes and just wing it. You think we could do that considering all the time that we have been doing the show. Well, you might be surprised how much two simple words on a piece of paper would have helped us this week. Those words? "Koi pond."

Anyway, this week we discuss the normal things, a little T.V. (including the pilot of "V," some current events, and some complete jerks. Then we listen to some listener feedback and try to wrap up the show. It's kind of a disjointed ending, but it does eventually come to a close!

Don't forget to follow this link to witness the comedy genius that is JACK CHOP!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADqAWUoVtbs  Is the Lynn reference at the end a nod to Outside the Cinema? Maybe... but do you think I would have mentioned it if it wasn't confirmed? While you're at it why not check out some of the other movies that Adam Green and Paul Solet have made? Movies like "Hatchet" and "Grace."

Thanks to everyone who nominated us for a podcast award, we'll know what came of it in a few weeks! Please, head over and vote for us on podcastalley: http://www.podcastalley.com/podcast_details.php?pod_id=63603 Thanks!

     Music this week is from:
Dethklok - "Laser Cannon Deth Sentence" from Dethalbum II"
Osaka Popstar and the American Legends of Punk - "Astro Boy (live) from Rock 'Em O-Sock 'Em Live
Living Colour - "Glamour Boys" from Vivid
Green Day - "Geek Stink Breath" from International Superhits!

Thanks everyone for all you support, we really appreciate it!

'Till next week!

Welcome again to another "wonderful" episode of Are You Serious?

In this episode, we keep to the same formula that seems to have been working all along for us.

 - First up - Discuss some recently seen T.V. and movies.

 - Second up - A little bit of randomness mixed in with who we have selected as our douche-bag(s) of the week.

 - Third - Mixed in with the listener feedback, we usually discuss some more things that don't really have a place in the show.

 - Fourth - We list off the contact information and close out the show.

 - Fifth, after the closing song ends, we try to put something funny or weird at the end.

 - In between all that other stuff, we have commercials for other shows that we really like, followed by music.

Speaking of which, music this week is from:
Heretix - "Season of the Witch" off of "A.D.
Megadeth - "Go to Hell" off of "Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey Soundtrack"
U2 - "Beat on the Brat" off of "We're a Happy Family"
Rob Zombie - "What" off of "Hellbilly Deluxe 2"

Thanks everyone for your support, we'll talk to you next week.

Chris and Frank present Episode Sixty Two: "Sixty-two pages of drawings and no blood? Not even an itsy-bitsy nosebleed?"

In this episode, we discuss some recently seen T.V. and movies, things like 30 Rock, Clone Wars, Mordern Family, Mad Men, Glee, The Big Bang Theory and Community.

In our D-Bag of the week section, you can guess who one of the topics would be about...

Then we wrap up the show with voice mail. Frank is pretty sick for this show, so we tried to keep it shorter than normal. We'll be back next week with a longer show!

Not too much to say in show notes this week, but plenty to talk about!

Music this week is from:
Dr. John - "Season of the Witch'
Chris Cornell - "Billie Jean"
Cast of Glee - "Halo/Walking on Sunshine"
Akira Yamaoka (composer) - "Silent Hill"
Orbital - "Doctor Who Theme"

Two Married Geeks Episode Six: How Do You Know When It's Over?

Hello everyone, in this episode we have made some small changes. The first thing you may notice is that we have shortened the length of the show. We decide for now to focus on one topic per show. We think that this will keep the episodes a little more focused and a little less rambling.

In this episode, we discuss how you can tell if a relationship is over. We have some real life examples, but they are extremes of situations that you may encounter. Then we answer listener feedback, and call it a night.

Music in this episode is from:
The Smithereens - "Yesterday Girl"
Powerman 5000 - "The End is Over"
Lick the Tins - "Can't Help Falling in Love"

We hope you enjoy the new and (hopefully) improved Two Married Geeks!

Happy Birthday to us! One year ago, on September 22nd, 2008, the first episode of Are You Serious? was posted. Each and every week since then, we have posted a new show, sometimes two in a week.

Our show has evolved over time, starting with one shared USB microphone, we moved on to an older mixer and two simple microphones. From there, we acquired a good mixer and a better recording program. Simple things like filters and leveling programs, help make the show sound as good as it does today.

To help illustrate how the show has evolved over time, I have included some audio clips from our first two shows for you to hear and compare.

Early on, we were accepted into the Popsyndicate family of shows. this provided us with a network of shows and forums. We have made connections with many good people that produce many great shows. Using that as a jumping off point, we have reached out to many other great shows and met some more great people.

The greatest thing about doing the show is meeting all the people that have become listeners. We have fans all across the world and it is very humbling and awesome to talk to all of you each week.

Thank you all so much for all of your support and we welcome all new liseners with open arms - and a healthy dose of sarcasm.

Hello everyone, and welcome back to another episode of Two Married Geeks. In this show, we discuss possible scenarios that you could encounter on a first date and how to gracefully take the good and the bad.

Our second topic this week is one that both of us have experience in; cheating. Both of us have been the person that was cheated on and we will tell you how it felt, how to overcome it and how to try and avoid being the victim of it.

Also, we have a surprise third topic! We went from listener feedback right into another topic; prioritizing the relationship. What does that mean you ask? That means that it is possible to still see your friends and family even though you have met someone new. The last thing you want to create is a sense of resentment for your new partner.

Hello everyone, Chris and El are back for another episode of Two Married Geeks.

This time, in honor of the start of the new school year, they discuss back to school concerns and how to overcome them. Cliques can be a difficult thing to deal with, whether you are in one or are the target of one. Chris and El offer some advice on how to look at the situation and how much it really matters in the grand scheme of things. College and work environments play more into the high school clique pattern that you would have ever guessed.

The second topic they discuss is what to expect from a date and what you are looking for in a date. There is a certain point in the show where you can tell, even though the hosts have been mainlining coffee for the last three hours, nothing can stop the need for sleep. Sure it veers off into tangent country, but at least it's entertaining!

Episode Fifty Two: "Before they could stand together, they had to stand alone."

In this massive episode, we talk about John Hughes, and the impact he had on our lives. After that, we discuss some recently seen movies and shows, followed by current events and some non sequitur stuff as well.

We open the show with the trailer for "Some Kind of Wonderful," and fill the breaks with music from Hughes' films.

"If You Leave" - Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark
"Pretty in Pink" - The Psychedelic Furs
"Don't You (Forget About Me)" - Simple Minds
"Oh Yeah" - Yello
"Weird Science" - Oingo Boingo

Thanks to all of our new listeners and all of the mail we have received. We are fast approaching our 1 year anniversary and you have all helped make the show what it is today!

Below, are the quotes that I found regarding John Hughes.

Molly Ringwald: "I was stunned and incredibly sad to hear about the death of John Hughes. He was and will always be such an important part of my life. He will be missed – by me and by everyone that he has touched. My heart and all my thoughts are with his family now."

Macauley Culkin: "I was a fan of both his work and a fan of him as a person. The world has lost not only a quintessential filmmaker whose influence will be felt for generations, but a great and decent man."

Matthew Broderick: "I am truly shocked and saddened by the news about my old friend John Hughes. He was a wonderful, very talented guy and my heart goes out to his family."

Steve Martin: "I asked John how long it took to write 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles,' he said, 'I wrote it over the weekend.' The weekend. That shows you what he was able to do."

Judd Apatow: "I feel like a part of my childhood has died. Nobody made me laugh harder or more often than John Hughes."

Roger Ebert: "His films helped establish an international notion of ordinary American teenagers, and he was as popular abroad as at home. Once when I was visiting the largest movie theater in Calcutta, I asked if 'Star Wars' had been their most successful American film. No, I was told, it was 'Baby's Day Out,' a Hughes comedy about a baby wandering through a big city, which played for more than a year."

Kelly LeBrock: "He was always the biggest kid in the room. He was always running around with high top sneakers with no laces in them because he didn't want to trip on his laces because he'd never tie them. He was just one of the boys and everybody loved being around him. He was a wonderful human being to work with. I loved him like crazy."

Bill Paxton: "He took a tremendous chance on me. Like Orson Welles, he was a boy wonder, a director's director, a writer's writer, a filmmaker's filmmaker. He was one of the giants."

Ben Stein: "He was a wonderful man, a genius, a poet. I don't think anyone has come close to him as being the poet of the youth of America in the postwar period. He was to them what Shakespeare was to the Elizabethan Age."

Hello and welcome to episode number one of "Two Married Geeks." For the foreseeable future the show will be a bi-monthly self help series. We will be focusing on helping geeks and nerds, gain the know how and confidence to confidently enter the dating world and succeed.

In the first episode, we introduce ourselves and give some background on our geekdom and hint at some relationships that we will be drawing their advice from. We start with the basics, self esteem and how to make yourself feel better with a few small steps is the first issue addressed.

Also included in every show will be a segment for people already in a relationship. This time around, we discuss staying in a relationship because it is comfortable, even when it should have ended a long time ago.

Please keep in mind that we are not professionals in any way, shape or form. We are trying to entertain and hopefully help some people along the way.

Feel free to contact the show at

We have arrived at episode number Fifty! We have recorded (for better or worse) fifty episodes in forty four weeks. Not all of them were good, but then again what really is?

In this episode we cover some hot button topics, such as: Barack Obama's birth certificate, people that fall in love with 2-D animated characters, the upcoming robot revolution, ("Kill all humans!") We also debate the (surprising) outrage with Hogwart's students drinking on screen, then we cap it off with a conversation about the health care reform.

Music this week is by:
Scum of the Earth - "Pornstar Champion"
Joe Satriani - "Surfing with the Alien"
45 Grave - "Partytime (zombie version)"
The Dead Milkmen - "The Thing That Only Eats Hippies"

Thanks everyone, we have hit a milestone episode number and we are at an all time high for downloads! I can't thank you enough for your support! If you keep listening, we'll keep recording!

Hello everyone, welcome to a special episode of "Are You Serious?"

In this episode I am joined by my wife, El as we discuss the new movie, "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince." We attempt to compare the book to the movie and determine if anything that was left out should have been fit in. We also discuss how the series has progressed, in story, tone, look, feel and technologically behind the scenes.

As you would expect, Harry Potter is not all that we discuss in the course of the show, but, be warned... if you don't want the movie spoiled, DO NOT LISTEN!

Music in this episode is from:
The Misfits - "Witch Hunt"
Rob Zombie - "The One"
Killer Dwarfs - "We Stand Alone"

Thanks for listening everyone! We'll see you next week!

That leads to arguments about, "My Sister's Keeper," "I Love You, Beth Cooper," Marshmallow Fluff, True Blood, Sarah Palin, John Ensign, Rick Santorum, the need of a 3:15 a.m. Harry Potter and more.

IMAX versus "LIE"MAX (or IMAX "nano".)

In this show, we discuss True Blood, Imagine That, we have some news stories we want to voice our opinion on, and a new segment that we may or may not continue, "I don't want to tell you how to do you job, but...." As always, there are douche-bags a plenty this week.

I hope you enjoy, and we'll be back with a longer show next week.

Here is episode Forty Two. "I know this great restaurant at the end of the universe."

Nothing much to report for this episode.

Except for some super awesome Futurama news, making fun (in a playful way) of the French, Megan Fox (again,) Olivia Munn, Twitter, Fed Ex and the World of Warcraft "connection," Terminator: Salvation, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Live Outside the Cinema, The Hangover, what happened to Land of the Lost, in listener feedback you can hear what Bri googled, some (not that) angry voicemail and our thoughts on killing people to prove that killing people is wrong.

It's a rambling scatterbrained episode of Are You Serious!

Music this week is from:
Social Distortion - I Was Wrong (live)
Dropkick Murphys - Famous for Nothing
Lick the Tins - Middle of the Night
Killer Dwarfs - We Stand Alone

Hope you enjoy!

Episode Thirty Eight: "His high exaltedness, the Great Jabba the Hutt, has decreed that you are to be terminated immediately."

Here we have episode thirty eight, in all of it's overblown, bloated, narcissistic glory!  We have an extra segment somehow in this episode and the runtime is (in Frank's opinion) "a little long."

TOO BAD!! Apparently, we had a whole lot to say this week. The reigns are off and we can talk about the worst run theater in all of New England. This is the show I've been waiting for. It didn't have all of the venom and vitriol that I wanted to include, but, you have to save some for later!

Music this week is from
Rob Zombie - "I'm Your Boogie Man"
Simple Minds - "Don't You (Forget About Me)"
Ugly Kid Joe - "Everything About You"
Guns N Roses - "My Michelle"

This week, Frank pulled a fast one and Chris has to scramble to think up some topics for the show.

Really though, it's not that bad and next week everyone will understand why we had to wait an extra week.

This week, we talk about Wolverine, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, more about summer releases, H1-N1, Megan Fox, Jet packs, cold rain, flying cars, the Cayman Islands, a Republican Pizza Party and Union workers for the Boston Globe.

Music this week is from:

Well, here it is... FINALLY! For you, it is coming out at the same normal time, but for us, what you have here is the FOURTH time we tried to record the show. We talk about  some new releases, like Adventureland and The Haunting in Connecticut. We reveal our Douche-Bags of the week and then we go over listener feedback. So, you know, the usual stuff.

Our new opening music is from a great local band, The Fine Print Band.

This week, since we are moving the studio to our North Shore facility, "Studio B," we thought it would be a good idea to put together another episode of "Are You Still There?"

This weeks show has the usual randomness, but with just a little bit extra thrown in for good measure!

Music this week is representative of both East and West coast Old School Punk (with just a little metal.)
Them by The Misfits
Palisades Park by The Ramones
Her Black Wings by Danzig
and
We Stand Alone by Killer Dwarfs.

Hello kids!    In this episode, titled: Episode Twenty Seven: Critics are likely to make enemies, inspector. You can call it an occupational hazard, we discuss some of the more recent releases, the Oscar contest results that we ran, and we pick apart a review from Roger Ebert that has little or nothing to do with the actual film that was supposedly reviewed. It just degrades from there into the usual mess that is Are You Serious?

Here, a day early is Episode Twenty Five: "I thought I was looking at my mother's old douche-bag, but that's in Ohio."

Welcome to Episode Twenty Three of Are You Serious?

"We got totally lied to by our album covers, man."

This time around, we move away a bit from movies and politics and venture into the realm of music. We discuss our favorite albums for a while after we debate who will win in the major Oscar categories.

Hello everyone and welcome to our special "Thanks but no thanks, get out of D.C. ex-president Bush / Welcome the new guard super spectacular show!"

In reality, it's called Episode Twenty Two: "Are you saying you believe?" "No. But I have a good idea."

This week, the show is based around a voice mail we received from Jorge. It sparks some lively conversation and some points that we don't quite agree on. It was great fun and I hope you enjoy it.

We have music from
U2 (City of Blinding Lights)
Bad Religion (Let Them Eat War)
Tenacious D (The Government Totally Sucks)
and Sting (Brand New Day)

Don't forget to contact us and contribute to the show!

For better or worse, I present you with Episode Twenty One:  Use the comlink? Oh my! I forgot, I turned it off.

For this episode, we had a slight technical problem. One of the microphones was not relaying a signal to the mixer. So, this means that when you hear my voice, I am being picked up through Frank's mic. I tried a bunch of tricks to amplify my voice, but none seemed to make it any better, only worse.

The show is not a total loss however. You can still hear me, even though we had to drop almost two hours of the recording. We cut out the discussion that we had about our favorite albums, which is a shame because we lost some really funny moments there.

Anyway, we have a guest on the show this week, Kelci stopped by to add to the mess that is "Are You Serious?"

We had fun, even  though we are plagued by technical problems. We'll be back next week with a re-cap of the last eight years. Tuesday's inauguration and what we wnant to see in the days ahead.

Thanks for listening.
Sit back and relax. Enjoy the show!

Hello and welcome to Episode Twenty: I was never a member of the Nazi Party! I only followed orders. I had nothing to do with the war!

In this podcast, we discuss some of the Holiday releases, we go over some recent (and some older) current events, then we take some time and discuss theatrical releases slated for this year. We cap it all off with a return to listener feedback, all while keeping it short!
(For once!)

With the show description out of the way, I was made aware of some problems people are having with the .m4p (enhanced) version of the show. Is anyone else experiencing issues with downloading or playback of the show?

In this show we have some music from White Zombie ("Ratfinks, Suicide Tanks And Cannibal Girls" from the album "Let Sleeping Corpses Lie"), Beck ("Girl" from the album "Guerro"), The Ghastly Ones ("Ghastly Stomp" from the album "Unearthed") and Loreena McKennitt ("The Mummer's Dance" from the album "Nights From The Alhambra")

Sit back and relax, enjoy the show!
And as always, thanks for listening.

Happy New Year everyone! This week we have a special show for you. We have taken some of the deleted sections of some of the past shows and put them together into this episode, "Are You Still There? Volume One, The Lost Sessions"

You would think that it would be easy to just string a bunch of clips together, add some music and upload it. You would be wrong. For some reason, the editing software I use decided it wanted to only convert sections of the finished show into an MP3 format. When you would listen to that version, it had no music and the beginning and end of each section was clipped off. To make matters worse, it did not save the files correctly and I could not retrieve the original files.

So, what you have here is a slightly shorter version of what was intended. It still retains the heart of the episode, but the cuts are not exactly how I wanted them.

To make up for that, and the show being a day later than usual, I decided to try something a little different. If I did everything correctly, this should be the first "enhanced podcast" that Are You Serious? has put out!

We'll be back next week with a brand new show, so until then, sit back and relax, enjoy the show!

Episode Eighteen: You? You! Hit that director in the face, really f*ck!ng hard!

Welcome to our year end show! We decided that we would do a special TWO part show for the year end wrap up. We also decided that it would be great to offer both parts of the show in ONE EPISODE for continuous listening!

In this one episode two-parter we talk about a lot of things that were much more current when we were recording! Things like "Milk" starring Sean Penn. We also discuss other year end lists and what they blatantly forgot. Part two of the one part show starts with a discussion of the Golden Globe nominees and we top off our year end spectacle with our least favorite films from our favorite directors.

Happy Yule!
Io Saturnalia!

In our special Christmas episode we discuss "the reason for the season." Shhh, here's a hint... it's not Jesus!  Shhhh!

We also discuss some of the things that we are looking forward to as our kids get older and reflect back on our own childhood Christmas memories.

Grab your egg nog, spike it with whatever you want (preferably rum,) sit back, relax and enjoy the show!

Welcome back everyone. My apologies for the longer than usual time between episodes, but with the holidays approaching, everything gets thrown into flux!

This week we discuss some new theatrical releases, a quick talk about critics and the Dark Knight, and we cap it off with a discussion about what makes a character bad-ass and who our favorites are.

Thanks everyone for listening, we'll be back sooner next week!

Welcome back everyone. I hope that you all had a good holiday and a good week. This week we talk about what movies have had the most influence on us when we were growing up. Also, we discuss season 3 of Heroes.

We had some technical issues with this show, but despite the few occurrences of levels being too high, it's a pretty good show if I do say so myself.

Thanks to everyone that has submitted a five star review on iTunes, and if you haven't...

That's all until next week.
