Wed, 10 March 2010 This is episode Eighty Two of Are You Serious.
This week we discuss, Modern Family, The Office, Parks and Recreation, Community, Lost, The Academy Awards, Avatar, Hurt Locker and Inglourious Basterds. After that, we discuss why teenagers are embarrassed buying condoms, the Kanye moment during Best Documantary, Haiti, Chile, earthquakes and why regulations are good for us.
There is a lot more, especially in feedback, bur I don't want to give it all away. One note, Children of the Grave ends with a lingering feedback loop type noise. I thought we would be able to talk over it and be fine. The computer agrued this point with me. You'll hear what I mean, it's not bad, but not as good as I would like.
Music the week is from: Leonard Cohen - "Everybody Knows" Bad Brains - "At the Movies" AC/DC? - "Goodbye and Good Riddance to Bad Luck" Black Sabbath - "Children of the Grave" The Magnificent Bartards - "Mockingbird Girl" Concrete Blonde - "Everybody Knows"
Stay tuned after the closing for some deleted scenes (audio) from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Call us at 206-338-3094 or write areyouseriouspodcast@gmail.com |
Wed, 3 March 2010 In this episode, we discuss Caprica, Frank is catching up on Battlestar Galactica, we skip Big Bang Theory because some stuff got in the way, and we talk about The Last Station. For the second segment, we talk to the one, the only, friend of the show, J himself! We discuss our final Oscar picks and record them so we can trash talk each other next week. The only problem? We pretty much agree on every pick. It looks like animated feature, soundtrack and live action short may just be the deciding picks! When we get to our third segment, we discuss how it might just be illegal to have a miscarriage in Utah. Along those lines, Frank discusses genital mutilation and we pick some other messed up things for douche-bag of the week. When we get to mail, we are greeted with a load of links, letters and calls! Thanks to everyone for such a good response. We discuss a wide range of topics in this segment, including, the Wii and homemade accessories, Catholic weddings, Kerasotes being bought by AMC and what that could mean for the programs Kerasotes runs. Admiral Ackbar comes up as he always should and what would a show be without an email from Bjoernar?
Music this week is from: Leonard Cohen - "Everybody Knows" Letters to Cleo - "Demon Rock" Lizzy Borden - "Me Against the World" Matthew Sweet - "Girlfriend" The Smithereens - "A Girl Like You" Killer Dwarfs - "We Stand Alone"
At the closing, we hear John Stewart talk about Jim Bunning and how he is the epitome of just saying no to say no regardless of who it hurts. The last 15 seconds of the clip are amazing in its total lack of understating and a perfect example of being completely out of touch. I don't care if this is his last term ever in the Senate. This man is a danger to all those around him and has qualified early for the Douche of the Year Award.

Tue, 2 February 2010 Episode Seventy Seven:"Nineteen seventy seven. He's um... he's with your friends."
Well, here it is, our last pre-Lost season premiere episode. That's why we recorded Monday night instead of Tuesday. This week, we discuss some very random things, from the Grammys to the Supreme Court to our President getting his confidence back and taking it to the opposition. We call Bri, if only to prove that she is actually a real person. The call does not last long. Apparently, people are trying to sleep. Music this week is from: Joe Satriani - "Surfing with the Alien (live)" Betty Blowtorch - "I Hope You Die" P!nk - "Bohemian Rhapsody (live)"

Tue, 26 January 2010 This week, we try to introduce another new element into the show; we do the show straight through without stopping. This is a bit clunky, and the breaks are super long (however entertaining,) but growth is always messy, isn't it?
This week we discuss why the Office let us down, and what is still delivering each week. We have a couple of douche-bags, and we skype in friend of the show, Dan.
Thanks everyone for your support, we will shorten the breaks for next week, but we'll probably try something new again!
